Tata Motors has just unveiled the latest iteration of its popular compact SUV, the Nexon. Set to launch on September 14, with bookings opening on September 4, the 2023 Nexon comes with some exciting updates and features.
The Nexon facelift sports a fresh look, with a distinctive split-headlamp setup featuring LED daytime running lights (DRLs) on top and headlights below. The upper grille, housing the Tata logo, connects these DRLs, while the lower grille boasts a robust plastic bar with a faux skid plate. New accent lines and stylish alloy wheels add to the visual appeal.
At the rear, the Nexon now boasts a full-width LED light bar with the Tata Motors logo at the center. The reverse light has been moved to the bumper, and the number plate is still housed in the bumper. The Nexon facelift maintains its impressive ground clearance of 208mm.
Inside, the Nexon facelift takes cues from the Curvv concept. It offers a new 10.25-inch touchscreen display and a two-spoke steering wheel. The dashboard now has fewer physical buttons, and there's a touch-based panel for HVAC controls. Leather inserts and a carbonfiber-like finish add a touch of elegance.
The top-spec Nexon facelift comes loaded with features, including a 360-degree camera, connected car tech, a wireless charger, ventilated front seats, an air purifier, and more. Safety is prioritized with standard features such as six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), three-point seat belts for all seats, ISOFIX, and emergency and breakdown call assist.
Under the hood, the Nexon facelift retains the 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine (120hp, 170Nm) and the 1.5-liter diesel engine (115hp, 160Nm) options. However, there's now a choice of transmissions, including a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed AMT, and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (with paddle shifters) for the turbo-petrol engine. The diesel engine comes with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT.
Tata has revamped its trim names, adopting a new scheme with optional packages. The Nexon facelift will be offered in various trims, including Smart, Pure, Fearless, and Creative. The '+'' suffix denotes optional packages, and '(S)' signifies trims with a sunroof.
The prices for the Nexon facelift will be disclosed on September 14, with expectations ranging from Rs 8 lakh to 15 lakh (ex-showroom). The Nexon will compete with rivals such as the Mahindra XUV300, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite.
